New Project and SALE items for April - Alice in Wonderland and Grunge

Alice in Wonderland paintings are again on SALE for the month of April for 20% off. Also the Grunge Postcard set is also on SALE for $3.50.

If you haven't got a postcard set yet better get one because this is the lowest price yet!

Also, just finished this tile sample for a painted tile mural that I'll hopefully be working on in the future. This tile took me 5 hours and the mural's are 3 x 3 ft and 3.5 x 4.5 feet. This project is going to be huge and time consuming.

Chris Cornell painting version 2

The Chris Cornell painting didn't flow with the other grunge paintings that I had done and I also wasn't totally happy with the turnout. Since I finished the series of grunge paintings I'm going to begin work on getting the paintings put on postcards for a set which will be for sale on my website. The changes that I made are the following: changed background color, fixed the hair and the face. I've included the previous photo of the painting so you can see the changes.

I would also like to give credit again to linda aversa for letting me use a photo of hers which was the main reference for the painting. You can view her photography at www.lindaaversa.com

scott weiland finished painting

Woohoo! I found some extra time to finish this painting. Up next is another Chris Cornell because I'm not sure the other painting I did of Chris fits with the series as much as I'd like. Or I might start a painting of my weimeraner Jedi that I've been meaning to do for awhile.

Anyways enjoy the Scott Weiland painting and if anyone is interested I have the painting for sale on my website at www.whiterabitart.net

scott weiland painting progress 2

This is the current progress on my Scott Weiland painting. Should be on the home run stretch. The jacket in the painting took me about 5 to 6 hours due to all the layering. I'm enjoying this painting and it was great digging out the old stone temple pilots albums and giving them a listen. I like the song "interstate love song the best!"

scott weiland painting progress 1

Haven't posted in a while. Life's been keeping me plenty busy. So here the progress on the Weiland painting. The face is the hardest part and usually takes the longest on the painting so the rest of the painting should move right along.

Scott Weiland sketch

Back to the grunge paintings. This painting is going to be of Scott Weiland the lead singer of Stone Temple Pilots or STP. He has also done a few solo albums and was with the band Velvet Revolver. It took me forever to find the perfect reference material for the painting since every video or concert he's done there is some kind of different style going on. I used about 6 different reference photos to finally sketch this out.

Kurt Cobain of Nirvana sketch

This is the sketch of the Kurt Cobain painting that I'm working on. The sketch is pretty rough so I'll have to tweak a few things and hope everything works the way I want.

Layne Staley painting progress 1

Just started a Layne Staley painting for the grunge series. Layne Staley was the lead singer for Alice in Chains and sung for a side project called Mad Season. Layne died of a drug overdose in 2002 but was one of the great singers known to grunge music. I am using quite a few reference pictures but the painting is mainly based off of the music video "would."

Chris Cornell progress 2

Here is what the panting looks like today. I'm about ready to start on the guitar then I have some more detail to do on the body and hair before the background gets started. Altogether pleased with it so far.

Chris Cornell painting

This is the new painting that I'm currently working on for my Grunge music series. The painting is of Chris Cornell who is a singer that is doing solo work but was in the bands Soundgarden, Temple of the Dog, and Audioslave. Still working on the face and the hair but it's getting there. The reference photo that I'm using is by Linda Aversa. You can view her website @ www.lindaaversa.com. Stayed tuned for more updates on this painting.
